Hospice hunts for knitters and stitchers
We’re calling upon enthusiastic knitters, stitchers and those who crochet to start casting on for an autumn knit along.
We’re asking for the creative community to lovingly craft cuddly elephants and donate them to St Richard’s Hospice to support Worcester’s Big Parade.
We received a fantastic response to our call for knitted giraffes in 2018, from the gigantic to the cute and cuddly. And we hope Worcester’s wonderful makers will get behind us once again so that handmade elephants can be available during the trail in 2021 for a donation towards our care. All the money raised will help us continue to be there for patients living with serious progressive illnesses and their loved ones.
A choice of knit, crochet and felt patterns to inspire creativity are available below.
Alternative knitting and crochet patterns can also be found here (some free and some paid for).
For those who stitch and sew, there are a few patterns here:
Elephant Toy Project, via thesewingdirectory.co.uk
Flora the Elephant, via Bustle and Sew
There is also a Facebook group, set up by an enthusiastic supporter, where ideas and patterns are also being shared, just request to join!
You are obviously welcome to source your own patterns and designs too!
Finished elephants should be sent or delivered to Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager at St Richard’s Hospice in Wildwood Drive, Worcester. WR5 2QT. Please include the sender’s details, and email address, inside the packaging so each maker can be thanked.
As the crafted elephants will be available from our pop-up shop, we are accepting donations up until August 2021.
